California was jolted by back-to-back earthquakes on Friday morning

Stovepipe Wells, California – On Friday morning, California was hit by two earthquakes that made tremors felt in many parts of the state. It was 3.4 on the Richter scale and happened 3 kilometers east of Stovepipe Wells.

As per the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake took place at 4:41 a.m. local time and went down 1.4 kilometers. A second earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 happened soon after, at 3:55 a.m., 1 km west-southwest of Loma Linda and 11.7 km deep.

Even though there were no reports of major damage right away, people in the hit areas said they could feel the tremors. The USGS is actively encouraging people to share their experiences through its “Did You Feel It?” platform so that more seismic data can be gathered.
