A man was found dead Wednesday hanging from a tree in the Bronx’s Pelham Bay Park. He had texted his friend with the sad news that he had killed himself, according to police and sources.
Around 1:30 p.m., police found the body in the woods near Orchard Beach Road and Bartow Circle. They had been called to the park to report a guy hanging from a tree, according to authorities and sources.
Sources say that the guy, whose name has not been released until his family is notified, was found with cuts on his left forearm, neck, and stomach. Police also found a 9mm shell casing nearby.
Sources say the man’s friend told police that the victim texted him before the crime and said he had stabbed himself.
